There has not been a whole lot happening on the fishing front for me the last few weeks with work getting busier towards the end of the summer. I've been out a few times and managed a few fish but nothing spectacular.
Will hopefully have a couple of trips planned over the next few weeks and might even get out salmon fishing at some point if I'm very lucky.

Some good fishing at last.
I have been very busy with work the last few months and missed out on the May fly on the bigger lakes which I had been planning to fish. I've been heading out in the evenings after work now and have been getting some pretty good catches on Elk Hair caddis type patterns. I've been getting into the double figures for numbers of fish caught so its been pretty good some evenings. I even managed to catch the same fish twice in the space of ten minutes a nice brown trout from the Dodder of about 1lb. He was a deep bodied fish and was in great condition. The double picture is a nice sized trout from the River Rye where I fished a couple of times in may.

Finally some trout on the dry fly
Went out today after some rain over night. This seemed to give the fish a bit more confidence to come up for flies on the surface, as the water had been quite low and very clear. Managed four fish on a deer hare emerger which I had tied up this morning.

Some fish from this year so far.
There hasn't been too much surface action as of yet even with some sporadic hatches of olives (march browns I think). So most of the fish have come to spiders and nymphs with one sole fish coming to the dry fly on a midge pattern I use. The quality of fish has slowly been getting better as well with the most recent fish being the best so far. Let's hope this pattern continues.

First trout of the season!
Just a bit of a delay posting this but I was out just after the opening day and managed to get a few small brownies on spider patterns as there was nothing showing on the surface. Went out again and there was a bit more life to the river with the odd fish rising managed a few more on spiders as well as some on nymphs. Hoping to get out for a good few hours this weekend and get some on the dry fly.
